Winter Sports School Recruitment Information

Training is available for Level 1 Instructors. You must be a Canadian Resident to be eligible for financial support for the course.

The Level 1 ski instructor certification is for any skier over the age of 15 that is a competent parallel skier. The Level 1 candidate can expect to be exposed to a variety of terrain, snow conditions and terrain features. The 3 day level 1 course is an introduction to ski teaching, CSIA technique and methodology, and the role of ski teaching within the ski industry. It combines the basics of practical ski teaching methods, technical understanding and development of guest service skills, specifically addressing children's skiing.

The level 1 certification course includes:

  • An introduction to CSIA skiing and teaching methodology
  • Strategies to develop skiers from entry level to intermediate
  • Techniques and strategies for effective assessment and development
  • Personal feedback on ski performance
  • Interactive preparatory online module.

Module concepts that will be used through the course include: Technical Basics, Fast Track to Parallel (beginner progression), Lesson Planning, Responsible teaching and Guest Service.

Upon successful completion of a Level 1 CSIA course, you become a member of the CSIA and are billed annually for membership dues by the National Office. Membership benefits are available to you provided your membership dues are fully paid.

FAQ's

What are you looking for in the hiring process?

We are looking for staff who have an energetic and positive personality, are passionate about the mountain lifestyle and enjoy working as part of a team. You must also demonstrate that you are safety-minded and can provide our guests with the best vacation and recreation experience possible. Certain jobs also have other qualification that will be required.

What will I need in order to be hired?

You need to be legally entitled to work in Canada (have a SIN card) and have arranged for your own work permit. Depending on the position, you may require a police check and extra certifications, such as Food Safe, Serving it Right, First Aid, Driver’s License. We will also conduct pre-employment reference checks.

Do you hire international applicants?

Yes! As long as you have a valid work permit. You will be required to provide copy or photo of your valid Canadian work permit and your passport photo page. You can speak to the Canadian Consulate in your country about obtaining a work permit.

Do you offer staff housing?

Yes!  But it’s limited.  We can discuss lodging on hire.

What documentation will I need to provide?

Once you receive a job offer you are required to provide the following documentation prior to starting work:

• Criminal Record Check original dated within the last 3 months (30 days for positions in Patrol, Childcare and Kids Winter Sports School). Those individuals with work permit/visas within this time period do not have to complete a Canadian CRC (it is included in your home country visa application).
• Social Insurance Number, or proof of application
• Copy of work visa if applicable
• Certification documents if required for position,
• Payroll start up package requires bank direct deposit, proof of healthcare or travel insurance coverage, and credit card for uniform issue/security.
